Yankees Pitcher Cory Lidle Killed in Plane Crash!

Info is still coming in, but Reuters, AP and WNBC are saying that the small plane that crashed into an Upper East Side building at 2:45 p.m. today was owned by Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle and he was on the plane. His passport was found on the street.

Details to follow.

UPDATE: Lidle's Wikipedia page is changing each minute. Go to the page and keep hitting the refresh button. Someone even found a picture of him with his plane. Wow.

When I got the CNN news alert e-mail at the job indicating that a small plane had hit a building, I couldn't help but think terrorist attack. I think most people did especially New Yorkers. I called my brother, who's a cop in NYC who had told me that preliminary reports were that it wasn't a terrorist attack.

But 2 things shocked me when the story finally came clear. One, it was Cory Lidle and 2, how in the world did a plane get that close? Now the latter is being explained and updated as more evidenced is gathered. But I think someone definitely dropped the ball on the tracking issues of this plane.

In the end, luckily it wasn't a terrorist attack, but 2 people have tragically died. And that is truly sad. What's irony? Had the Yankees even won the series, Cory wouldn't have been flying his plane yesterday talking about flying to Cali.

He'd be preparing to take on the A's in Yankee Stadium. Damn...

I love Heroes, awesome show. I adore the Japanese guy, have a crush on the Indian guy and am a bit puzzled about the girl from Vegas. And of course I kinda like the cheerleader from Texas named Claire :)
